Blood Donation Center Says Supplies Are Dangerously Low

The blood bank that serves dozens of hospitals across the region reports blood supplies are dangerously low. Danielle West, spokeswoman for LifeServe, says December and January are typically the worst months of the year for donations as so many people are on vacation, traveling or the weather’s bad.

All blood types are needed. West says donating a single pint of blood may help save the lives of as many as three hospital patients.

West says donations are needed of all blood types, but a few types in particular are more urgently sought.

More than 120 hospitals across Nebraska, Iowa and South Dakota get their blood products from LifeServe.

Huron Regional Medical Center partners with LifeServe for supplemental blood supplies.
