The Woonsocket/Wessington Springs/Sanborn Central Blackhawks are moving from nine man to 11 man football this year. The Hawks have been in 9AA since the three schools on highway 34 began the co-op, and were state runner up in 2014 and 2015. Head coach Jason Kolousek says the change was expected, and they’ve been preparing for it.
Helping with the change is that a couple other teams on their schedule are making the same move.
Kolousek said an issue for a few of his kids was changing their uniform number due to 11 man restrictions.
Woonsocket/Wessington Springs/Sanborn Central will open their season Friday night at Wagner.
