Beer Garden Ordinance Passed

Huron will become the first city in South Dakota to enact an ordinance that regulates outdoor beer gardens. A minor round of adjustments to wording and provisions were made to close any loop holes in the final draft of the ordinance approved by the Huron City Commission.  One item added was a temporary provision regarding the types of material that could be used according to Huron Mayor Dave McGirr…

That special provision will be in place until April 30th of next year. McGirr also wanted to protect the three businesses with beer gardens that were grandfathered in from paying extra fees to obtain a permit, but those establishment would still have to apply for the permit. A resolution was passed after approval of the beer garden ordinance that set the fees for both permenent and temporary beer gardens at 50 dollars to cover the cost of the inspection process.
