Bankers across South Dakota are meeting with local governments to talk about what they see as a tax fairness issue. The complaint they have is that credit unions and the Farm Credit System operate under different rules, and don’t pay as much in taxes as banks do. The bankers are asking those local governments to pass resolutions asking Congress to make the changes in federal tax policy.
