A Badger teen lost her life in a three vehicle accident just west of Arlington Monday. South Dakota Highway Patrol Captain Kevin Joffer says 17-year-old Savannah Koistinen was driving an eastbound vehicle that was pushed into the path of the bus by another vehicle just before 5-P-M last night…
Clark schools superintendent Brian Heupel says 18 students were on the bus…
Koistinen died at the scene. Two passengers with Koistinen, 15-year-old Kelsey Keller of Bryant and 16-year-old Levi Tapani of Sheridan Wyoming were transported to Brookings, then to flown Sioux Falls area hospitals for treatment of serious, non-life threatening injuries. Authorities cited the driver of the car that rear-end Koistinen’s, 25-year-old Cynthia Holmquest, with careless driving. Holmquest is an active duty Sioux Falls police officer, hired by the department in August of 2012. The cause of the crash remains under investigation by the South Dakota Highway Patrol.
