Feeding South Dakota, based in Sioux Falls, is gearing up for another school year as more children will be enrolled in the BackPack Program. The program provides weekend meals for students whose families cannot afford to provide those meals with the intent to help the performance and health of children in the classroom. Allison Struck is the Program Coordinator and says the program has grown tremendously since its beginning…..
Struck says the program needs more than $500,000 each year to buy food, and that money comes from the community…..
She says they hope to have all of the needed donations by September 2nd so that they can afford to help each child who needs food assistance on the weekends.
