During the October update for Huron Regional Medical Center, CEO Erick Larson spoke about the update and expansion of the HRMC Dialysis unit. The HRMC board approved a plan to convert the previous Womens Wellness Clinic into the new dialysis clinic and expanding the availability of services. Former Huron mayor Paul Aylward spoke of his declining health conditions that at one time led him to be on dialysis.
At the time Aylwards condition required dialysis treatments 3 times a week. The Huron unit did not have enough treatment chairs available so there was a waiting list. Aylward talked about what he did next.
Aylward said commuting to treatments is physically demanding.
His condition improved so he was able to be taken off treatments but there is still a need. Aylward said he wants to help get the word out.
The expansion of the Huron Dialysis unit is underway and scheduled to be completed next year. If you would like information on how to help contact the HRMC Foundation by calling 605-353-6319 or visit http://hrmcfoundation.org
