Huron’s mayor is eyeing a second term behind the gavel. Paul Aylward and City Commissioner Gary Harrington both announced late Friday their intentions to retain their positions at the Huron Municipal Building. The two men ran together and won their respective spots in 2013. Harrington, in a joint press release says he has learned a great deal to help him take on challenges that lie ahead. He added that he’s sharpened his knowledge of local government and to promote a constructive consensus with colleagues. Aylward says it’s been an honor to serve as Huron’s mayor for three years and that he’s proud of the accomplishments achieved during his time behind the gavel. He says sales taxes have grown each year since he became mayor and is looking forward to leading continued growth. Alyward and Harrington are running for four-year terms on the Huron City Commission, running for Mayor and Commission positions, respectively.
