Total gate attendance for the State Fair this year was 183,005. Nearly 1700 campers called the State Fairgrounds home for the five day event this year, a six-percent bump. Camping revenue was up four-percent. Hertel say the 415 vendors was yet another record for the Fair. Even though less people took in the event, revenue in 2013 was the third highest ever….
Tax revenue for 2013 is 148-thousand 31-dollars and 20-cents compared to last year when tax revenue in 2012 reached 143-thousand dollars. Hertel says his staff is reviewing the 2013 event as they begin preparations for the 2014 South Dakota State Fair.
