Assessment Upheld At City Commission Meeting

A request by Doug Schmitt and his son Ryan to have a 100 dollar administrative fee for delinquent assessments forgiven was denied by the Huron City Commission Monday Night. The assessments were for lawn-mowing and tree clearing at a property the Schmitt’s had purchased and intended to renovate. Mayor Dave McGirr the is very little precedence for this

The assessments were not a surprise to the Schmitt’s and McGirr is worried forgiving part of the assessments was vary similar to a plat request handled moments before by the commission…

The Commission was split on its final vote with the a motion to approve the Schmitt’s request failing on a 3 to 2 vote. A subsequent motion to deny the request was approved with Commissioners Kervwin Haeder, Mark Robish and Mayor McGirr voting aye with nay votes coming from Commissioners Jan Manolis and Dale Schneider.
