Huron police arrested a 36-year-old resident on charges of Aggravated Assault Domestic and Kidnapping Wednesday night. Officers were dispatched around ten PM to the southwest part of Huron for a report of an assault in progress. As a result of their ongoing investigation, officers arrested a Erick Torres as a suspect in the assault of the 31-year-old female victim. Public Information Officer Sam Freng did not indicate the nature of the assault in a press release to media outlets. The victim’s condition is unknown. Police also believe, following interviews of Torres and the victim, that Torres is a suspect in a series of storage unit burglaries in Huron. Follow up interviews regarding the burglaries revealed information that led to the recovery of a large quantity of stolen property. Items recovered include furniture, paintings, hutches, electronics and a number of plastic storage containters.
