Aberdeen Man Faces Assault Charges After Traffic Stop in Pierre

An Aberdeen man faces multiple charges after a traffic stop Thurs. in Pierre.

According to the Pierre Police Department, officers responded to the 2500 Block of East Sully Avenue because a small wire fence separating two residences had been hit by a pickup. Officers found the unoccupied pickup near the scene. They identified 29-year-old Kyle Traversie, who was located in a residence nearby, as the owner and operator of the pickup when the accident happened. Officers further determined Traversie had been consuming alcohol. During the investigation, Traversie became combative and struck an officer in the chest.

Traversie was arrested for Driving Under the Influence 1st offense, No Valid Driver’s License and Simple Assault Against a Law Enforcement Officer. He was also detained on two outstanding warrants from Brown and Davison counties.

Traversie was transported to the Hughes County Jail. The police officer was not seriously injured.
