A Beadle County township road southwest of Wolsey remains underwater in late summer after heavy spring rains. So roads in the county, even now in the winter are still covered by water.
The City of Huron passed an ordinance establishing guidelines for businesses who want to have areas for outdoor smoking, if the statewide smoking band was passed, which it was.

Sioux Falls televison station reporters film John LeGrand being led into the Beadle County Courthouse on Oct. 18. He was to be sentenced that day but attempted to withdrawl his guilty plea. After a number of weeks Judge Vince Foley denied LeGrand's request and was sentenced to 40 years in prison for the April 2009 death of 23 year old Ricardo Hein
The Canadian Pacific Railroad has expressed an interest to the City of Huron they would like to see the Lincoln Avenue crossing closed or risk the former Dakota Minnesota and Eastern Railroad moving its Huron rail yard elsewhere.
Eric Macauley pleaded guilty to accidently shooting his twin brother David in March. He was sentenced to 198 days in jail and given credit for that time allowing for Macauley to be released from jail. He is a free man today.
