A 38-year-old Alpena man will spend three months in federal prison after pleading guilty to a federal indictment charging him with Possession of Fraudulent Immigration Documents. US District Judge Roberto Lange sentenced Santos Cruz Pastrana to 90 days in federal custody and a 100-dollar special assessment to the Victim’s Assistance Fund Pastrana is accused of providing the un-named employer a fraudulent Permanent Resident Card and Employment Authorization Card in September of 2009. Prior to 2006, Pastrana had been issued an Employment Authorization Card. However, in 2006 his application was denied. Therefore, Pastrana did not have a valid Employment Authorization Card during that time. The Permanent Resident Card was also fraudulent in that he had never actually been issued one. Pastrana could have been sentenced to a maximum of 10 years in prison and or a 250-thousand dollar fine. He began serving his sentence immediately following his sentencing on Tuesday.
