The Huron City Commission approved a memorandum of understanding that allows Huron to recover expenditures from helping Pierre deal with Missouri River flooding this year Huron helped Pierre by offering straight and side dump trucks and machinery to help build levees and police officers to help with security in evacuated areas. Huron told officials in Pierre they would donate the help unless, federal help from the Federal Emergency Management Agency was approved. Cities across the state are now applying to be reimbursed after FEMA help was ok-ed. The Commission also approved second reading of an ordinance regarding dangerous animals. The Commission also approved the rescinding of an ordinance that vacated at lot on the former Huron University property. The resolution recension was required to clean up paperwork on the property to allow it to be transferred to the Huron Community Development Foundation, to allow work on the Central Park Project to continue. The Commission met in executive session for a personnel matter as well last night.
