Hintz Gets Four Years For Grand Theft

Attorney General Marty Jackley says a Huron Woman is headed to prison for stealing from a resident in a Huron nursing home. Circuit Judge Vince Foley sentenced 47-year-old Katrina Hintz to four years at the State Penitentiary for Grand Theft. Hintz pleaded guilty in August to Grand Theft as part of a plea agreement where she admitted to stealing money from a resident while working as a social worker at the Violet Tschetter Memorial Home. Hintz was ordered to repay nearly 30-thousand dollars in restitution, 254 dollars in prosecution fees and 300 dollars in fines and court costs. The South Dakota Medicaid Fraud Control Unit, Beadle County States Attorney’s Office, Huron Police and South Dakota Departments of Social Services and Health helped investigate and prosecute Hintz.
