At the Huron City commission meeting over the past few weeks have been the announcement of plat transfers and the acquisition of land west of Walmart in Huron. This is for future park areas and walking and biking trails in south Huron. Huron Parks and Recreation director Chad Schroder said the plans have been in the works for some time.
Schroder said the park project for Huron is similar to what other communities are doing to expand their park facilities.
The trails portion at Gibbs park will be linked with other Huron trails.
Schroder explains where the shared use path will run down Dakota Avenue.
Gibbs park is named for the late Huron resident Margaret Gibbs.
