Secretary Of States Office Validating Sales Taxes Signatures

Almost thirty four thousand petition signatures were turned into the Secretary of State’s office in Pierre this week.  The petitions would put the question of a one cent increase of the state sales tax on the ballot next November. The petition drive was organized by a coalition of education and medical groups.  Secretary of State Jason Gant says the verification process is underway…

Gant says they want to verify the petitions as soon as they can…

Gant says the number of signatures gathered indicates that the issue will most likely make the ballot…

Fifteen thousand, eight hundred fifty five verified signatures are needed to place the issue on next years ballot.
