A Huron woman has died following a Thursday morning car accident just outside of Huron . South Dakota Highway Patrol Trooper Mark Chamberlain is investigating the crash along with the Beadle County Sheriff’s Office.

Barton was not wearing a seat belt and Chamberlain says it’s too early in the investigation to determine if speed was a factor. Barton was alone in the pick-up at the time but authorities were concerned for a time after seeing an empty child safety seat in the back of the cab. The accident happened where the dirt road is a series of left and right hand turns. The accident happened around 7: AM Thursday morning. The Huron Police and Fire Department assisted in responding to the accident.
