South Dakota Governor Kristi Noen proposed over one billion dollars in one time spending in her budget address earlier this week. She also wants to give teachers, state workers and health care providers a six percent raise.
He said its a critical issue for finding and keeping state employees.
Wheeler said the increased pay is a needed investment.
The main run of the 2022 session starts January 11th.
