Dowling Promoted to Information Services Director for HRMC

Huron, S.d. – Stacie Dowling has been promoted to information services (IS) director for Huron Regional Medical Center (HRMC), according to Erick Larson, president and CEO for HRMC.

Dowling has worked at HRMC for more than 17 years, most recently as the project manager for the hospital’s new electronic health record implementation. In her new role, she coordinates and directs IS-related activities for the hospital and clinics, provides administrative direction for the IS team to set and achieve goals, meet quotas, eliminate security risks and provide technology solutions that lead to improved patient and staff experiences. Dowling also defines and implements IS policies, procedures and best practices and functions as the HRMC’s Security Officer.

“Stacie’s technical skills and knowledge, combined with her ability to organize and execute, make her well suited for this new responsibility,” explained Larson. “I’ve been especially impressed with her ability to bring people together to work as a team toward our ultimate goal of providing quality health care, close to home.”

Dowling earned a Bachelor of Science in Information Systems and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Dakota State University in Madison, South Dakota. Prior to joining HRMC in 2004, she worked as communications writer and web author for NorthWestern Energy in Huron.

She began her career at HRMC in the marketing and communications department where she was instrumental in, among many other things, planning, managing and launching four public facing websites, giving a public face to HRMC and access to information that could positively impact community members’ health and wellbeing. Motivated by a desire to help others and create purpose in caregiving, she later added Patient Experience Team (PET) leader to her responsibilities, and in summer 2020, accepted the role of Cerner project manager.

“I am very excited to step into this leadership role and continue using my technical education, skills and experience to help HRMC deliver care for our region,” Dowling said. “I’ve had the great pleasure of working with a talented IS team this last year and am looking forward to continuing to work together with them to achieve the goals and plans we have to support our growing health care organization.”

She and her husband, Troy, farm near Alpena. They have three daughters: Samantha, who will graduate from the nursing program at Northwestern College and join the HRMC team in May, Jolie, a junior at James Valley Christian School, and Alexis, a fourth grader at JVCS. In her spare time, Dowling enjoys following her children’s activities, serving in her church and at JVCS, racing, camping and spending time with family.
