Plenty of time and money remain in an effort to collect waste tires from county residents. Solid Waste Superintendent Dale Fortin told the Huron City Commission Monday night that two weeks into the seven week collection 173 loads of tires have been gathered. Just under 72 tons were collected the first week and just under 29 tons came in last week. Fortin says it’s hard to tell just how MANY individual tires have been brought to the Transfer Station in Huron….

Only 14-thousand, 120 dollars has been used The City made 27-hundred dollars on tires collected from private businesses. The waste tire collection will continue until the remaining 88-thousand 600 dollars is used or September 15th.
