Governor Kristi Noem made a stop in Huron Wednesday following her budget address to the legislature. Tuesday she gave her recommendation of one time money for several projects in the state. One was a $12 million dollar amount to be matched with $3 million from an insurance payment and $4 million in fundraising donations for a new State Fair Beef complex to replace the beef barn destroyed in a fire on the morning of October 31st. She talked about the proposal at the Nordby Exhibit hall.
She talked about what the new facility could look like.

Huron Mayor Gary Harrington spoke about his reaction to the possible funding amount to replace the complex.
One attendee spoke about the encouraging proposal and the possibility for business growth the Huron. Noem had some encouragement for the city.
The legislature will deal with the proposal along with the 2022 fiscal year budget in March. If plans fall into place a new 200,000 square foot livestock complex could be part of the 2022 SD state fair.
