Less than a week into a 60 day probation granted from his pleading guilty to driving on a revoked license, Wessington Springs School Superintendent Lance Witte has been pulled over and again arrested for D-W-I. Court documents on file with the Hanson County Clerk of Courts office indicate Witte was pulled over last Friday by a South Dakota Highway Patrol Trooper and arrested for second offence D-U-I. Trooper Mark Nelson’s report shows he received a radio call from dispatchers in Mitchell that a white S-U-V was driving all over Interstate 90 near the Hanson/McCook county line. Witte refused to blow properly into an alcohol breath tester on scene. A blood test administered at a Mitchell hospital revealed a blood-alcohol content of point 157. He was booking in the Davison County Jail and released on a 500 bond. On Tuesday August 2nd Witte pleaded guilty to driving on a revoked license, a charge that stemmed from Witte not providing his hours of employment for a work permit he was granted, after pleading guilty to a D-U-I in November of last year. He could have lost that license for up to a year. No formal charges have been filed by the Hanson Coutny States Attorney’s office. Witte is due in court in Alexandra, August 24th.
