The Huron City Commission set August 22nd as the date to accept bids for construction of a half million gallon water tower on the east side of Huron near the Dakota Provisions plant. The one point five million dollar tower is being funded by the city, Dakota Provisions and a grant all contributing 500-thousand dollars each. A second one million gallon water tower will be built in the north industrial park. A resolution was passed to authorize the issuance and sale of revenue bonds for that project. The City Commission also approved a change order and payment request for a water main and lift station replacement project and awarded a bid for energy efficient LED lights for around the city. Commissioners approved the appraisal of a steel bleacher frame and bases. The five row bleachers were valued at 90-dollars and the bases at 20 each. The City of Carthage is interested in purchasing the items from Huron. Before holding a work session on the 2012 City Budget, Commissioners approved a wage adjustment for a solid waste department worker.
