A date has been set for a change of plea hearing for Wessington Springs School Superintendent Lance Witte. Witte is charged with driving on a revoked license while on probation from a drunk driving conviction late last year. Judge David Gienapp says Witte will change his not guilty plea August 2nd. The hearing will be conducted via I-T-V from Brookings and either Mitchell or Huron. I-TV is used on the Dakota Digital Network to connect locations across the state for interactive conferences and court hearings to eliminate the need for judges and lawyers to travel to a courthouse to conduct short hearings. Witte maintains the incident was a misunderstanding involving work permit paperwork he was required to file. He has received full support from the Wessington Springs School District and many in the community.
