Beadle County Unified Task Force Testing Facility and Call Center Update

HURON, S.D. – April 8, 2020 – The Beadle County Unified COVID-19 Task Force would like to thank the public for their continued cooperation with the mitigation efforts that have been enacted by Beadle County and City of Huron Leaders. We still have a long ways to go and it’s still too early to tell if the mitigation efforts enacted are working.

The positive COVID-19 cases in Beadle County have maintained at the same level and recoveries have went up. These may be encouraging numbers for some, but we still need to maintain the mitigation efforts. The Beadle County COVID-19 Testing Facility is still averaging 4 to 5 tests per day, causing there to still be concern for spread of COVID-19. This number does not include test that may have been collected by individual healthcare providers and sent to a commercial testing facility.

If individuals have questions about COVID-19, the public is asked to contact the Beadle County COVID-19 Hotline at (605) 353-6214. The call center is staffed with medical professionals and will be able to answer all your questions. They will also be able to provide home management information, if you are on home isolation.

For those experiencing symptoms, you are encouraged to contact your healthcare provider and inquire about testing. If you do not have a primary care physician, the call center has physicians on staff. They will speak with you and if it is deemed you should be tested they will order the test for you. We cannot emphasis enough that if you are experiencing symptoms of COVID-19 to contact your primary care provider or call the Beadle County COVID-19 Call Center.

The public is still encourage to follow the mitigation guidelines, as there has not been a coordinated action, applied uniformly across the country. The risk of COVID-19 is still present. We encourage residents to keep up the great work and we are in this together.
