Memo to District Employees Clarifies Policy on Meals and Conduct

After last week’s incident which resulted in breakfast being withheld from some students at Huron Middle School to correct conduct issues, Superintendent Terry Nebelsick says the district has taken steps to ensure staff correctly understand school policy.

Nebelsick said a memo went out to over 400 district employees.

Nebelsick said if the time of the meal is changed it should remain as close to the actual mealtime as possible.

Nebelsick reiterated that the decision to withhold meals was a violation of protocol and again apologized to parents. He said the decision was due to staff not understanding expectations and that responsibility falls on him.
