Landscaping Home Occupation Permit Still Troublesome For Neighbors

The Huron City Commission unanimously approved four of five home occupation permit renewals Monday night. The fifth permit belongs to Adrian Gibson, who runs a landscaping business from his home on. At a Commission meeting last winter, a number of neighbors opposed Gibson’s request, with opponents getting quite vocal at times because Gibson yard was not kept clean. Gibson claimed some of what was in his yard was for personal use. Kenny Shoultz is one of the neighbors against Gibson using his home for his business….

The City Commission, on a 3-2 vote decided to give Gibson two month to use or move the items in his yard and clean up the yard with grass in dirt areas. Commissioners Haeder, Manolis and Scheinder voted in favor of the two month extension with Mayor McGirr and Commissioner Robish voting against. The Commission did unanimously approve changes to the city’s home occupation ordinance to add the sale and repair of firearms with gunsmithing requirement in a different section of the ordinance.
