Area Youth Chosen as Beef Caddy’s at the Sanford International

The 2019 Sanford International PGA Tournament of Champions will take place September 16 – 22, 2019 at the Minnehaha Country Club in Sioux Falls.

As a sponsor, the South Dakota Beef Industry Council (SDBIC) is allowed to provide four beef caddy’s to go alongside a pro for an incredible experience. With so much interest, the SDBIC made it into an application process and four South Dakota youth were selected. The 2019 SDBIC Beef Caddy’s include Abbie Nelson, Tyler Fastnacht, Teagan Mason, and Luke Urevig.

Tyler Fastnacht is from Wessington Springs, SD where he is a high school junior. He is actively involved in his high school golf team and has been since 7th grade. Tyler is the treasure of his local FFA group where he judges meats and has 12 registered Hereford cows of his own. Tyler is very active on his family’s fourth-generation farm where they raise feeder cattle, corn, soybeans, and forage.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Teagan Mason is a freshman from Frankfort, SD where he resides on his families ranch, Mason/Knox Ranch. Teagan has a strong passion for both golf and working with his cattle. He has begun to start his own small herd and is involved in FFA, 4-H, and open class show with his cattle.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Abbie Nelson is from Newell, SD where she resides on a farm. Abbie comes from a generation of farmers and ranchers. She says, “My dad has been farming for 30 years and both my grandparents and great grandparents raised cattle on their farms.” Since a young age Abbie has taken an interest in golf and she currently plays golf for her high school team.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Luke Urevig is from Brookings, SD where he plays competitive golf at Deubrook area. Luke was part of the Deubrook area team that took 3rd place at the 2019 State B Tournament. Luke also participated in FFA Meat Judging.
