Two motorcycle riders participating in the Disabled American Veterans Poker Run near Brookings crashed.
63-year-old Patrick Patenode of Clark was traveling east on SD 324 near 479th Ave. when he lost control of his 2012 Harley Davidson motorcycle.
The motorcycle was laid on its side and Patenode fell off the back in the eastbound lane of traffic.
51-year-old Thomas Owen of Spearfish was also traveling eastbound in his 2008 Harley Davidson and swerved to miss Patenode who was laying in the eastbound lane of traffic.
When Thomas swerved to miss Patrick he tipped his motorcycle over.
Both were taken to the hospital.
