Back in June, the city informed residents that plastic grocery bags should no longer be placed in recycling.
Solid Waste Superintendent Dale Fortin says some residents are not heeding those instructions.
Beginning October 1st, Sioux Falls-based Millennium Recycling will charge more for loads containing plastic grocery bags.
Fortin says the prohibiting on placing plastic bags in recycling is part of a nationwide trend.
The Solid Waste Dept. has started a new Facebook page to educate the public on the need to keep plastic grocery bags on the issue of recycling- City of Huron Recycles.
