A dedication ceremony is scheduled this morning for the $363 million Crow Lake Wind Project north of White Lake. It was built and is owned by PrairieWinds, a subsidiary of North Dakota-based Basin Electric Power Cooperative. Governor Dennis Daugaard says it’s a great addition to South Dakota’s growing wind energy industry….
The project has 108 wind turbines, 100 of which are owned and operated by PrairieWinds. Seven are owned by a group of community investors called South Dakota Wind Partners. One turbine is owned by Mitchell Technical Institute and will be used in the school’s wind turbine technology program.
The wind farm became operational in February. Due to recent heavy rains the dedication creemony will be held at the White Lake School gymnasium at 10:30.
