City to Take More Time on Temporary Camping Ordinance

The city will take more time on a proposed temporary campground ordinance.

City inspector Chris Newman says after meeting with some owners of those campgrounds last week, he believes the current proposed ordinance isn’t a viable solution.

One of those owners, Julie Olivier, was appreciative of the decision. Olivier and her husband own a lot with 12 camper posts at 6th and Arizona.

Mayor Paul Aylward says the proposed ordinance is in response to concerns over access and safety during the SD State Fair.

Also last night, the city recognized Huron Finance Officer Paulynn Carey who was named 2019 Governmental Finance Officer of the Year at the June 13th meeting of the South Dakota Municipal League in Pierre.
