Police Chief Recommendation A Part Of City Commission Meeting Tonight

A recommendation to hire a new police chief is one of many items on the agenda for the Huron City Commission tonight. Commissioners will also consider a changer order for a manhole restoration project and two public hearings. One is for a special event alcohol license for the Elks Summerfest and other is for a home occupation permit. The Commission will also consider two plats, special assessments and a request for a Right-of-Way easement with Dakota Energy. Commissioners will consider a resolution of intent that would establish a Business Improvement District and first reading of an ordinance that would recommend changes to home occupation ordinances. In addition to a hiring recommendation for a new police chief, the Huron City Commission will consider two other hiring recommendations, a memorandum of understanding with the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 3-A and resignations from the Planning Commission. Commissioners will consider the appointing of a new hearing examiner as well. An executive session for union negotiations and work session to work on the 2012 budget round out the business for the City Commission tonight. The meeting starts at 5:30 PM and it is open to the public.
