Twenty-two-year-old Tiffany Van Zee of Highmore is one of 14 young women preparing to compete for the title of Miss South Dakota 2011. Van Zee’s feature talent is Tap Dancing and her platform is the Court Appointed Special Advocates for Children or the CASA Program. Van Zee is Miss Rushmore. The contestants will rehearse for four days followed by preliminary competitions on June 23rd and 24th. The Finals will be June 25th. That means also the reign of current Miss South Dakota Loren Vaillancourt of Huron is coming to a close. Vaillancourt’s platform is distracted driving, and even testified to the South Dakota Legislature on a distracted driving bill. Miss State Fair this year is 20-year-old Cristen Turner of Bowdle. Her talent is listed as Country Vocal with a platform of Every Body is Beautiful. The new Miss South Dakota will go on to compete at the Miss American Pageant in Las Vegas in January.
