The Huron Police Department responded to a two vehicle accident yesterday afternoon around 3:43 pm.
An SUV was traveling north on Kansas Ave SE near 24th St SE when it was struck by a Chevy Camaro driven by 25 year old Juan Carlos Castillo Garcia.
The Camaro was traveling west on 24th St SE approaching Kansas Ave SE at a high rate of speed. The Camaro entered the intersection and struck the passenger side of the SUV causing it to roll over, strike a curb, and then roll back over onto its wheels.
The driver of the SUV was transported to Huron Regional Medical center in a privately owned vehicle. The driver and passenger of the Camaro were both transported to HRMC by the Huron Ambulance Service. The individuals involved sustained minor injuries from the accident.
Officers at the scene were able to determine the approximate speed of the Camaro at the time of impact at 54 mph. The speed limit in the area the accident occurred is 20 mph.
