A new study ranks Beadle County 43rd among counties in South Dakota when it comes to health outcomes.
The study was conducted by the University of Wisconsin-Madison and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation.
The purpose of the rankings is to help counties better understand what contributes to longevity and quality of life.
A variety of factors were included in the rankings such as health behaviors (tobacco use, diet & exercise, alcohol & drug use, sexual activity), clinical care (access to care, quality of care), social and economic factors (education, employment, income, family & social support, community safety), and the physical environment (air & water quality, housing & transit).
