PIERRE, SD – A committee studying the use of interpreters and translators in the courtroom meets Friday to continue working on its report to the South Dakota Supreme Court. The 15-member panel was appointed by the Supreme Court to recommend ways to improve the use of interpreters and translators in the state’s court system. Friday’s meeting is its sixth one. Committee members have said their toughest job will be finding a way to pay for the increased use of interpreters. The Friday meeting will be conducted over the Dakota Digital Network with participation sites in Pierre, Huron, Rapid City, Sioux Falls and Sisseton. Huron Judge Jon Erickson is a member of the committee
