HRMC Honors Pohto as April Exceptional Employee

Huron Regional Medical Center (HRMC) honored its April Exceptional Employee of the Month, EhMwee Pohto with a reception on Wednesday, April 10, 2019.

Pohto, who has worked as a Karen interpreter for HRMC for nearly 10 years, was nominated by coworkers to receive the honor. According to nominating coworkers, “EhMwee is very accessible. She comes as quickly as she can when we call her on short notice and is patient while waiting for the doctor, social worker or staff to compile all the information.”

“She has helped many people by giving them the gift of understanding their medical provider’s instructions and advice,” the nomination continued. “EhMwee meets a very important need for the entire hospital and staff – patients and families really trust and like her.”

HRMC’s Exceptional Employee of the Month award recognizes an employee who goes above and beyond to exceed expectations. Employees can be nominated by other coworkers or by a patient or visitor who witnesses exceptional service. A committee of employees from various hospital departments chooses the employee on a monthly basis and an Exceptional Employee of the Year is chosen at year-end from the 12 monthly honorees.

As April exceptional employee, Pohto, who also earned the award in 2014, received a reception with friends and coworkers, a meal certificate to a local restaurant, a professional photo session and portrait, $50, a lapel pin and a special parking place for a month.

Originally from Burma, Pohto and her husband, Peekey, have three children: son ThaWah, who lives in St Paul, Minn.; and daughters Htee Khu, a student at the University of Minnesota, and Grace. In her spare time, Pohto enjoys fishing and going to the park with Grace.
