City Approves Plat Request by Greater Huron Development Corporation

The city has approved a plat filed by Greater Huron Development Corporation for West Industrial Park outlots 5A, 5B, 5C and 6A.

David McGirr, President of GHDC, earlier explained to the Planning Commission that the land was originally intended to be developed as larger acre lots, but now 5-acre parcels which are more in demand. One of the lots is 4.14 acres. GHDC is working with the owner of that land, known as the Haskell Lots, to acquire the land in order to have full road frontage.

The land is to the east of Lankota and north of the turkey plant. The parcel of land was one larger lot and is now being divided into three lots. It has not been determined if the Haskell Lots will be available for purchase.

Greater Huron Development Corporation’s new spec building is located on the middle lot.

In other news from last night’s city commission meeting, the city reminds residents that potholes are becoming a problem around Huron. The potholes are being filled but need to dry out first. Residents are asked to drive carefully in order to avoid damage to their vehicles.
