Democratic Party State Chair Candidate Guest Speaker at Next District 22 Democratic Forum

South Dakota Democratic Party State Chair candidate Tom Cool will be the guest speaker at the next District 22 Democratic Forum in Huron on Thursday, February 7. The forum will be held at Noon at the Huron Events Center.

Cool is one of four candidates seeking election to the state party leadership post.

He was the Democratic Party candidate for State Auditor last year. He currently serves as Executive Director of Dakota Admissions for College Admission Counseling. He previously served as Executive Director of the South Dakota Counseling Association.

Incumbant State Party Chair Ann Tornberg was a guest speaker at a January 4 forum. Additional candidates include 2016 US. House candidate Paula Hawks and John Cunningham of Sioux Falls.

Beadle County Democratic Party Chair Peggy Gibson said the organization will invite all four candidates to address the District 22 Forum. “I think it is a sign of the growing strength of the Democratic Party that we have four well-qualified persons as candidates for party leadership,” she said.

The election is scheduled for March 23 at the State Central Committee meeting at the Arrow wood Resort and Conference Center near Oacoma, SD. Beadle County Electors will include Chair Peggy Gibson, Vice Chair Chuck Groth, State Committee Man Dennis Olson, State Committee Woman Joanne Groves and District 22 Legislative Director Darrell Raschke.
