ABERDEEN, SD – A Wolsey woman accused of embezzling more than $38,000 from the South Dakota Wheat Growers has been sentenced to jail but given a chance to keep the conviction from her permanent record.
Thirty-four-year-old Leslie Schweigert was sentenced to about two months in jail, restitution and 10 years of probation, though the probation term could be shortened once the money is repaid. If Schweigert successfully completes probation the incident will not go on her record. Schweigert pleaded guilty last August to taking the money between September 2008 and March 2009.
