Healthier Employees Save City Money

The city has approved the 2nd and final reading of the 2019 annual appropriations ordinance.

The 2019 budget of $31,500,878 is about a 1% increase over last year.

Deputy finance director Janet Bockorny says health insurance costs will decrease for 2019.

Mayor Paul Aylward says city employees deserve credit for the savings.

Commissioner Doug Kludt pointed out the role of the Huron Get Fit Committee has played in promoting better health among city employees.

Also last night, the city approved a bid opening date of Oct. 28th for 3rd Street Dam site improvements.
