JRWDD Awards Over $160,000 to SD Communities

The James River Water Development District awarded $160,330.42 in cost-sharing assistance at their recent Board of Directors meeting held in Aberdeen on Thursday, September 13.

Funds awarded include:

$5,000 to Hitchcock for a new generator for their lift station.  A dependable generator will assure the lift station will not be flooded and that sewage will be transferred to the holding ponds.

$3,600 to Aurora County Highway Department for engineering, design and bank stabilization to replace a structure in Plankinton Township.

$12,000 to Ducks Unlimited to develop a wetland habitat in Spink County.  This project will improve water quality and control runoff entering Cottonwood Lake.  This project entails building two embankments along a previously constructed drainage ditch that enters Cottonwood Lake.

In other business, the District approved their 2019 operations budget in the amount of $995,460.  Prior to the budget being approved, the District held their public hearing for the 2019 operations budget.  No written or public comments were received in regards to the 2019 operations budget.  The District will request $987,660 in property taxes payable in 2019.
