Day 1 Of Huber Jury Selection Complete

With Pam Huber’s brother-in-law, Bob Stevenson looking on and taking notes, lawyers asked prospective jurors in Huron Thursday, whether or not they could give Ken Huber a fair trial. 44 jurors were approved to move on to final striking which will be held on Tuesday morning. A jury pool of 55 must be in place before lawyers for Huber and the State Attorney Generals office select 20 jurors each. From there, the pool will be narrowed to 15. Twelve to hear testimony and three alternates. Many jurors excused from jury duty in the first two pools said serving on the jury for the two if not three week trial would harm their farming operations because of the wet weather conditions earlier this year and the calving season. Judge James Anderson told jurors they will be notified by phone on Tuesday that they have been selected as one of the final 15. Opening statements are set for Tuesday afternoon.  Two more pools of possible jurors are set to be screened Friday, however only 11 more are need to get to a pool of 55.
