Jury selection starts today in the RE-trial of Ken Huber. The former Highmore police cheif was sentenced to life in prison for first degree murder in the shooting death of his wife Pam. The South Dakota Supreme Court ruled last July Huber was entitled to be tried a second time according to Attorney General Marty Jackley….
The orignial trial in February of 2009 was held in Fort Pierre due to a conflict of interest with the Hyde County States Attorneys office at the time. Huber’s re-trial has been moved to the Beadle County Courthouse in Huron. Huber told investigators his pistol fired accidentally as he moved it from a bedroom dresser to a gun safe. Pam Huber was shot once in the forehead in October 2007 and died several days later in a hospital. Jury selection will run through Firday with testimony slated for two week starting Monday.
