Public – private partnerships to develop workforce are having an impact, but businesses are still struggling to find the workers they need.
Dave Owen, President of the South Dakota Chamber of Commerce and Industry, says it is still a matter of fitting the skills to the workers.
Owen says potential workers are looking for long term educational benefits.
The state and businesses have worked together to develop the “Build Dakota” scholarship program. Owen says that has been successful.
The state unemployment rate in June was two-point seven percent, the lowest in the nation.
