Huron Police Department Planning for 35th National Night Out

The Huron Police Department is inviting members of the public, businesses, civic organizations and any others to participate in National Night Out. National Night Out is a campaign involving citizens, law enforcement agencies, civic groups, businesses and local officials. The program is designed to heighten crime and drug prevention awareness, generate support for and participation in local anticrime programs. Strengthen neighborhood spirit and police community partnerships and send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.

The goal is to make a city wide block party, including food, informational booths, contests, demonstrations and various youth activities. We are looking for individuals to help fill all these categories, along with donations to keep everything free to the public.

Last year’s National Night Out involved over 15,000 communities from all 50 states, U.S. territories, Canadian cities and military bases worldwide. In all, over 37 million people participated in National Night Out.

The Huron Police Department will be participating in the 35th Annual National Night Out, on Tuesday, August 7, 2018, from 5:00pm to 8:00pm. National Night Out will be held in Campbell Park.

If anyone is interested in participating, helping out or would like additional information, please contact Captain Mark Johnson at (605) 353-8550 or email at [email protected].
