Quick Meeting For Commissioners Last Night

The Huron City Commission breezed through last night’s Huron City Commission meeting in just over 10 minutes. Commissioners accepted Tim Schwartz’s resignation and retirement as Foreman in the Solid Waste Department and posted for his job. A civil service call was also issued. A number of hiring recommendations were approved for the golf course and Solid Waste Departments. Casey Spinsby was promoted to Sergent in the police department and Commissioner Jan Manolis made a number of announcements regarding the City Rubble site and yard waste collections which begin this week. The Commission met in executive session for negotiations as well. 3rd Street is open over the James River however the city is asking that there be no truck traffic. Jersey, Riverside and Sherman Avenues are still closed.
